History
The history of BGV started 7 years ago. In February 2002 competitions among snowboarders and skiers were held in the ski resort «Adjigardak» (Asha). Direct organizer of the event – the «Vibirai» magazine (product of the publishing group Paramon).
Any volunteer, able to use the board or skis more or less, could participate in the 1st BGV Fest. The amateur format of sport battles did not allow collecting a rich crop of records. But there were other things – a three-day drive with short pauses for taking nap, emotions and the atmosphere of a grandiose extreme-party, which fascinated the participants no less than speed thirst and sport heat.
A special concept was formed at the very first BGV. It is a harmonious combination of extreme sport and entertainments. This considerably expanded the project audience and let experiment with the event program as much as possible.
The idea of holding such an event was great, since then BGV has become an annual event. Since that time the quality level of the event has increased – now big-air is being mastered by professional sportsmen, while amateurs and guests watch spectacular competitions.
One of the contest's co-organizers is the World Federation of Snowboarding (WFS) and its Russian branch. Today BGV – is an event of international scale. According to the World rating system TTR/WSF it has 4 stars out of six.
In 2009 the project transformed into BGV tour. It had 2 stages: BGV Russian Open and BGV Fest.
This season BGV tour has 2 stages with different level: BGV Siberia (3 stars by TTR) and BGV Fest (4 stars by TTR).
For the seven years of developing the audience of BGV has increased from 1 500 to 17 000 guests, the prize fund has risen from $1 000 to $ 35 000, and participants geography has gone over Russia’s borders (European riders from Germany, Switzerland and Finland, Austria, Norway and Sweden also participate in the BGV tour).
